Wu-Tang Clan to hold Las Vegas residency on Super Bowl, March Madness weekends
Wu-Tang Clan will hold a residency in Las Vegas during the Super Bowl and March Madness weekends next year, the group announced.
“Are you ready?” the group’s leader, Robert Diggs, better known as RZA, wrote on social media as the group announced its show, “Wu-Tang Clan: The Saga Continues.” “I’m ready,” replied one fan. “This is epic,” wrote another.
The shows will take place at the Theater at Virgin Hotels, a 4,600-person venue, on Feb. 9 and 10, and March 22 and 23. The dates coincide with Super Bowl weekend and the first weekend of the March Madness college basketball tournament.
The announcement follows the 50th anniversary of hip-hop, widely celebrated by artists and fans in August. “This residency is more than a concert,” Virgin Hotels Las Vegas said in a statement, promising “a Wu-Tang experience like never before.” The hotel said the residency “serves as a tribute” to the group’s “prolific careers as individuals and as the most storied group in hip-hop history.”

Formed in 1992, Wu-Tang Clan went on to produce a string of hits, including “C.R.E.A.M.,” “Protect Ya Neck” and “Triumph.” Presale tickets were released Tuesday, with regular sales set to begin Friday, the group said.
The group has sold more than 40 million albums worldwide, according to Wu-Tang Clan’s official online store.
RZA told the New York Times that the residency has been in the works for around five years. “Hip-hop is rich in its content and what it offers creatively to an audience,” he said, adding that the group wanted to elevate the genre and inspire other rap artists “to come and play in this sandbox with us.”
Hip-hop artists and fans around the world celebrated the anniversary of the genre with shows, exhibits and playlists. Many recalled how hip-hop changed their lives, while others thanked Cindy and Clive Campbell, the teenage siblings from the Bronx whose party in 1973 was widely credited as the birth of hip-hop.
Mayor Eric Adams (D) of New York City, the group’s hometown, declared the first “Wu-Tang Clan Day” on Nov. 9, a date that coincided with the 30th anniversary of the group’s debut studio album, “Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers).”
That day, the Empire State Building spire was lit up in black and yellow, the group’s colors.
Adele, Katy Perry, U2 and Usher all held residencies in Las Vegas this year, with New Edition and Jodeci set to hold residences next year.
